State Sponsored Scholarship Schemes being run by the Education Department in Himachal Pradesh.

The various Scholarship Schemes of different categories of Bonafide Himachali students are being implemented by the Education Department, Himachal Pradesh to encourage them to improve their merit / performance in studies. The eligible beneficiaries should be a regular student in Govt./Govt. aided/affiliated institutions in Himachal Pradesh.

1. Dr. Ambedkar Medhavi Chattarvriti Yojna to SC and OBC Students (100% SSS) (Meritorious Scheme) :-

The Scholarship be given to Top 1250 Meritorious students of Scheduled Caste (SC) Category (Revised w.e.f. 2018-19) and Top 1000 Meritorious students of Other Backward Classes (OBC) declared declared as such in the result of Matric Examination conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala strictly on merit basis for 10+1 and 10+2 classes in a recognized within or outside the State. The renewal in 10+2 Class will be subject to satisfactory performance in 10+1 internal examination. The scholarship is given @ Rs. 18,000/- per year (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23).

2. Swami Vivekanand Utkrisht Chhatervritti Yojna (100% SSS) (Meritorious Scheme):-

The Scholarship be given to TOP 2000 Meritorious students of GENERAL Category, declared as such in the result of Matric Examination conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala strictly on Merit basis for 10+1 and 10+2 classes from recognized Institutions within or outside the State. The renewal in 10+2 Class will be subject to satisfactory performance in 10+1 internal examination. The scholarship is given @ Rs.18,000/- per year (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23), as per Govt. Notification No. EDN-B-(F)4-8/2012 dated 03.09.2012.    

3. Thakur Sen Negi Utkrisht Chhatervritti Yojna (100% SSS) (Meritorious Scheme):-

The Scholarship will be given to TOP 100 GIRLS and TOP 100 BOYS  students belonging to the TRIBAL Community of HP, declared as such in the result of Matric Examination conducted by the H.P. Board of School Education, Dharamshala strictly on MERIT basis for 10+1 and 10+2 classes from a recognized Institutions within or outside the State. The renewal in 10+2 Class will be subject to satisfactory performance in 10+1 internal examination. The scholarship is given @ ₹ 11,000/- per year, as per Notification No. EDN-B-(F)4-8/2012 dated 13.09.2012.

4. Maharishi Balmiki Chattarvriti Yojna (100% SSS):-

Under this scheme an amount of @ ₹ 18000/- per year (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23)is given to the Bonafide all Himachali GIRL students belonging to BALMIKI FAMILIES, engaged in unclean occupation, beyond Matric to college level for studies and professional courses at the level of college situated in Himachal Pradesh irrespective of their status i.e. Govt. or Private as per Govt. Notification No. No.EDN-A-Ga(11)2/2000 dated 5th March, 2001 & EDN-A-Ga(H)2/2000 dated 19th June, 2003.

5. Indira Gandhi Utkrisht Chhatervritti Yojna for Post Plus Two Students (100% SSS) (Meritorious Scheme):-

The Indira Gandhi Uttkrisht Chhatervritti will be given to those Post Plus Two students of the State subject to enhancement of eligibility percentage in subsequent classes from 55% to 60 % for meritorious students for Post Plus two Courses shall be awarded to 150 students @ ₹ 18,000/-P.A. per student (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23) purely on merit basis and without any income ceiling. The Scholarship will be awarded to 10 toppers each from merit list of 10+2, ARTS, SCIENCE AND COMMERCE, supplied by H.P. Board of School Education Dharamshala, provided they join any academic/professional stream. The scholarship will also be awarded to 10 toppers from the merit list B.A./BSC./B.COM., provided they join any academic /professional stream. The scholarship will be renewed every year to the same number of students till they complete degree/course, as per Govt. letter No.EDN-A-K(I)1/2002-II dated 03.10.2005.

6. Rashtriya Indian Military College Scholarship (100% SSS):-

This award is made to the all the students who are Bonafide Himachali and undergoing training/studying in Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun, as per Govt. letter No. EDN-B-Ga(17)-16/2014 dated 27.01.2016. The scholarship will be admissible without any Income limit of the parents/guardian of students. The amount of scholarship is ₹24,000/- (Twenty Four Thousand) p.a., per students (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23), as per Govt. letter No. EDN-B-C-(10)2/2022 dated 21-07-2022.

7.  Mukhya Mantri Vidyarthi Kalyan Yojna (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23 earlier named as IRDP/BPL Scholarship Scheme) (100% SSS) :-   

Students belonging to IRDP/Antodaya families and studying in 9th to University level are eligible for this scholarship provided they are pursuing their study in Govt./Govt. aided Institutions in H.P, as per Notification No.Shiksha-H(10)91/2 dated 23.04.1991.

8.  Financial Assistance to the children of the Armed Forces Personnel   killed/disabled  during the  different War/Operations (100% SSS):-

Children of Armed Forces Personnel killed / disabled in the different wars /operations are eligible for this assistance. In case of disability is below 50%, the children will get half scholarship. Application proformas are available with District Sainik Welfare Board.  The Heads of Institutions are directed to get the proformas verified from the Dy. Director Sainik Welfare Board of the respective district duly filled up in all respect before submitting to the Director of Education. The amount of scholarship is ₹ 18,000/- p.a., per students (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23).

9. Sainik School Sujanpur Tihra Scholarship (100% SSS):-

The students who are studying in Sainik School Sujanpur Tihra and are Bonafide residents of Himachal Pradesh from class VI to XII will be given scholarship (as per Notification No. EDN-H-C(10)2/76 dated 30th April, 1977). The amount of scholarship is ₹ 18,000/- p.a., per students (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23).

In addition, the students will be given dietary money @ ₹10/- per day for 295 days clothing allowance @ Rupees ₹1500/- per annum for the first year and Rupees ₹750/- per annum for the subsequent years.

10. NDA Scholarship Scheme (100% SSS)  :-

This is a State Sponsored Scheme started from the year 2010-11 which will be given to the Cadets of Himachal Pradesh who are getting training at National Defence Academy, NDA, Khadakwasla, as per Govt. Letter No. Shiksha-II-Kha(15)10/2001-loose dated 04.01.2011.

 11. Kalpana Chawla Chhatravriti Yojna (100% SSS):-

This scholarship scheme sponsored by State Govt. implemented during the year 2012-13. Under this Scheme the top 2000 meritorious GIRL students of all study groups i.e. Science, Arts and Commerce streams based on passing ratio in each group as per the merit list supplied by the HPBOSE Dharamsala for Post Plus Two (+2). Rs.18000/- only (Revised w.e.f. 2022-23) will be given to per student per year. The scholarship will be renewed till the completion of Degree /Diploma/ Certificates course provided there is no failure, in which case the scholarship shall cease to continue, as per Notification No.EDN-B-F(4)-11/2012 dated 15.09.2012.  

12. Mukhya Mantri Protsahan Yojna(100% SSS): –

This is a State Sponsored Scheme which was implemented during the year 2012-13, for all those students of the state who are selected and take admission for a degree course in any Indian Institute of Technology {IITs} or All India Institute of Medical Sciences {AIIMS} and for a Post Graduate Diploma Course in any Indian Institute of Management {IIMs}, as per Notification No.EDN-B-F(4)-18/2012 dated 07.09.2013.

However, as per Notification No.EDN-B-F(4)-18/2012-1 dated 11.07.2014, Indian School of Mines (ISM) Dhanbad at Jharkhand & Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore, have also been added to the list of Institution eligible for award under this scheme w.e.f. 2014-15. One time Award of Rs.75000/-{Seventy Five Thousand Only} will be given to all the students.

13. Mukhya Mantri Gyandeep Yojna (Educational Loan Subsidy Scheme):

State Govt. has introduced new schemes “Mukhya Mantri Gyandeep Yojna” to all Himachali Bonafide students of the State who can avail educational loan for pursuing professional/technical course and Higher Education course from recognized Institutions in India, directly from any Bank. The scheme shall be applicable for Educational loans. Under this scheme Interest subsidy is admissible on Education loan availed up to the maximum of ₹ 10 (Ten lakh only) for pursing Higher Studies in India. The Interest subsidy to the extent of 4% p.a. on education loan will be allowed. The objectives of the scheme are to providing financial support to Himachali students for pursuing Higher Education in India, as per Govt. Notification No. EDN-B-Ga(11)-6/2016-L dated 01-10-2016.

14. Dr. Y. S. Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna:

The state government has launched Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna, an interest subsidy educational loan scheme designed to support bonafide Himachali students pursuing professional, technical and higher education courses in recognized institutions. The scheme aims to ensure that no youth of the state is deprived of educational opportunities due to financial limitations.

The eligible students can avail education loans through scheduled banks located in Himachal Pradesh at a highly subsidized interest rate of just one percent. The loan facility is available for diploma and degree courses in engineering, medical, management, para-medical, pharmacy, nursing, law and other technical fields offered by ITIs and Polytechnics. The students can also avail the loan for post-graduation and Ph.D. from institutions recognized by bodies such as AICTE, NMC, AIMA, PCI, INC, BCI, UGC etc.

The scheme covers students seeking to pursue education both in India and abroad and is applicable for fresh admissions as well as students already enrolled in recognized courses. Under the scheme, students can avail loans up to Rs. 20 lakh to meet expenses including tuition fees, boarding and lodging, books and other education-related costs. The annual family income of the applicant should not exceed Rs. 12 lakh. The maximum age limit to apply for the loan is 28 years as on the date of admission or registration.

UCO Bank has been designated as the nodal bank for the scheme, with its main branch at The Mall, Shimla, authorized to process interest subsidy claims for the Higher Education Department.
